Iron Jaw Equine Dentistry FAQ

Hand Tools or Power Tools?

I  only  use  hand  tools!

Tools  range  in sizes  to   accommodate  any  horse,  Miniature  to Draft.

Do you sedate?

Legally,  I  am  not  allowed  to  sedate  because  I am  not  a  licensed Veterinarian.

I  pride  myself  as  a  horsemanship-based  practitioner. I  take  great  care  in  being  patient in  all  situations, and  gentle  with  all  animals.

Where did you go to school?

I attended Midwest Equine Dental Academy  (MEDA)  which  offers  a unique  and  highly  specialized apprenticeship training  program  to  certify   as  an  Equine  Dental Technician  (EqDT) .  MEDA  is  one  of  three  certification  programs  in  the  United States that  teaches   the  craft  of  equine  dentistry .

What type of horses do you work on?

English,  Western,  Draft, Miniature, Rodeo, On/Off track Thoroughbreds and Standardbreds,  as  well  as  Mules, Donkeys, Miniature Donkeys, and  everything in between!
